Using Nanocoat clear to protect glass

As an experienced window cleaner, removing hard water staining from glass surfaces is one of the most tedious parts of the job... Recently I have discovered that applying Nano-particles to glass can turn it into a self cleaning surface which prevents glass staining occurring.

We use NanoCoat Clear (any other next generation brand of glass Nano products will do the same job) which is a high performance, silica ( SiO 2 - Quartz) based nanotechnology product, which bonds extremely well and fast to glass (less than 0.5 seconds).
As Glass already contains Quartz ( SiO 2 ) our product physically and chemically integrates into the existing Quartz minerals within the make-up of glass and becomes one with the substrate.
This results in an extremely fast application process without any curing time as the Silica in our product integrates with the Quartz in glass, minimizing application time with maximum efficiency, especially in factory applications. Furthermore, the product has a very high quality alcohol content, which acts as a light cleaning agent as well and the easy removal of the residue. (can be polished or rinsed off). Therefore there is no need for any special cleaners (extra cost) for surface preparation. Our product has an unlimited shelf life due to the absence of silicon.

A Silicon based product on the other hand does not react as well upon contact with glass. As the Silicon, in the liquid form makes contact with the glass substrate, sufficient time must lapse to allow the alcohol (liquid) to evaporate and gives enough time for the Silicon Particles to adhere to the "top" layer of glass as it dries up and crystallizes. A noticeable streak in most cases is evident post application due to the light reflectivity of Silicon Particles and the UV refractive index is different to that of Silica. Silicon is well known for its stickiness and adhesion, but provides little resistance against abrasion and has poor longevity.

A further advantage of our product is, that if sprayed (applied) with the correct nozzles, 1 litre can achieve a coverage rate of over 80-100m². Silicon products tend to clog up and create blockages in the spray nozzle which will result in high wastage.

Conventional product are a first generation silicon particle based product with very acidic properties (ph 2-2.5). Though it MAY be a nano sized particle, This type of product has a slow curing time and does not bond very well to glass, and it's properties or chemical build-up can create various issues when applied on factory levels.
On the other hand, new Nano technology Clear is very neutral at 7-7.5 pH.
Silicon based products normally have a very limited shelf life of 18-24 months but starts to separate well before that due to the imbalanced ratio of liquid/silicon.
New Nano technology does NOT have a shelf life. Properly closed, it can still be used with the same performing results months, years or decades sitting on the shelf.

In my experience, pyrolitic coatings (self cleaning, oxide coated glass) do not work. However, I have little experience with the physical properties of solar technology. I do know that recently, Diamon Fusion International announced a partnership with a major solar tech provider in in the states. In recent tests being conducted in Germany, initial results are extremely positive with 8% increases in cell efficiency due to Nanocoat's ability to keep the surface clean.

This technology works extremely well on shower screens and pool ballustrades where water hits glass frequently causing hard water staining but works just as well on any glass surface. It is extremely easy to apply and cost effective if applied correctly.
